The Fulbright Foreign Student Exchange Program provides a chance to study and research in American colleges and other institutions to students, professionals, and artists around the world.

The Fulbright programme run by partner agencies such as the International Education Institute is attended by a total of roughly 160 countries. The Fulbright Program is being financed by the US Department of State Education and Culture, which receives annual appropriation bills from the US Congress. Additional direct and in-kind financing is provided by partner governments, charities, corporations, and host institutions in and outside the US and by other nations. A binational Fulbright Commission is controlled and supervised in each of the countries hosting the Fulbright programme. The Public Affairs Section of the American Embassy supervises the Fulbright Program in operational countries, but it does not oversee the Fulbright Commission. More than 370,000 people have participated in this programme since it was launched.

The Fulbright Program exchanges professors and students with other nations through bilateral contracts managed by governments of each country. Amongst other things, it finances programmes that allow American citizens to travel to other countries, such as the US student programme, the United States Scholar Programme, the Teacher Exchange Programme, or programmes, such as the Foreign Student Programme, and the Teacher Exchange Programme. This includes programmes that allow American citizens to visit the United States.
In order to consider Fulbright money, outstanding academic achievements, a convincing project proposal or declaration of purpose, leadership potential, adaptability, and the capacity to integrate constructively with the host community are all required.
Fulbright grants are provided in virtually all academic fields except for clinical medical research requiring patient involvement.
