The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) of Japan gives undergraduate scholarships to international/Pakistani students who wish to study at Japanese universities through the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program.MEXT scholarships are available in practically every subject of study, including medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, engineering, science, the arts, computer science, and business administration.
MEXT awards 9,500 scholarships to international students each year, including Pakistanis. The MEXT Scholarship is the Japanese government’s largest scholarship programme. During the scholarship time, the Japanese government will reimburse all expenditures. Students can apply to any university in Japan for any programme. MEXT Japan Undergraduate Scholarships are available in a variety of subjects and at a variety of universities. The MEXT Japan Scholarship does not need knowledge of the Japanese language or the IELTS/TOEFL.
MEXT Scholarship 2021-22
MEXT Japan Scholarship covers:
- Allowance of Yen 117,000 per month.
- An extra-regional stipend of 2,000 yen or 3,000 yen per month will be added to the monthly scholarship amount for grantees studying or conducting research in specifically designated locations.
- MEXT will cover the costs of the entrance exam, matriculation, and university tuition. MEXT will choose the trip schedule and destination, as well as present grantees with a plane ticket when they arrive in Japan.

- A candidate must have a strong desire to learn Japanese.
- A candidate’s health should be good.
- A candidate should enrol in a Japanese institute’s bachelor’s programme.
Eligibility Factors for MEXT Research Scholarship 2022 (Masters & PhD):
- A candidate must be from a country with which Japan has diplomatic relations.
- A candidate must be under the age of 44.
- A candidate must have a strong desire to learn Japanese.
- A candidate’s health should be good.
- A candidate should enrol in a Japanese institute’s masters or doctoral programme.
- Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree when applying for master’s degree programme.
- Applicant must hold a master’s degree when applying for a doctoral degree programme.

Applying For MEXT Scholarship 2022?
- To apply for the MEXT scholarship, an applicant must first submit the relevant documentation to the Japanese diplomatic post in his or her home country.
- Following the first round of screening, qualified candidates will be invited to acquire acceptance letters from Japanese universities.
- A candidate who receives an acceptance letter will be needed to submit additional documentation for the scholarship to be confirmed.
