The no-sew approach is my favorite. I’ve done several no-sew projects, but this is my favorite. You are going to learn how to make a beautiful handkerchief dress in this tutorial. It’s easy to make and requires very few supplies. This chic, backless handkerchief dress will amaze you. Grab your materials and let’s start sewing.
The following tools and materials are necessary:
- Textiles
- Clay
- Tape for Measuring
- Snips
Fabric selection
You can use any fabric of your choice, but I used a lovely blue, thin scuba fabric for this dress. It does not fray, has the same appearance on both sides, is soft, and very light.
Mark and measure your fabric
carefully. This is an essential step. A good rule of thumb is to not use too much and not too little fabric. Take your height into consideration, too. After I tried it on, it was too long, so I cut out 5 inches from the length. The width was 63 inches, while the length was originally 40 inches. You have the option to choose. Measure your fabric and mark it.
Cut the fabric
fabric.fabric. It’s time to cut! Be careful when cutting your fabric, as you want it to be straight and wide.
The midpoint should be marked
halfway between the length and width of your fabric. According to my tutorial, the width of my fabric was 63 inches, so my midpoint is 31.5 inches.
