The Jackie Robinson Foundation awards scholarships of up to $30,000 over four years to minority high school students who demonstrate leadership potential and financial need and who plan to attend an approved four-year college or institution of their choosing, as determined by the foundation. Applicants demonstrate leadership potential as well as a commitment to volunteerism in the community. Students must also establish a need for financial assistance. A minimum combined SAT score of 1000 on the math and critical reading parts, or a composite ACT score of 21 is also required for applicants to be considered.
With the Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) Scholarship Program, college students are able to meet their financial obligations while also receiving intensive, hands-on mentoring and support services. A generous four-year grant to attend the undergraduate school of their choice as well as enrollment in the Jackie Robinson Foundation’s acclaimed “42 Strategies for Success Curriculum” is awarded to Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholars who are selected through a national, competitive application process. As part of this four-year programme, JRF Scholars learn how to successfully navigate their collegiate environments while also exploring career alternatives, developing leadership skills, and committing to community service. It also promotes the principles and character attributes exemplified by the courageous life of the Foundation’s namesake, motivating Scholars to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
An outstanding high school graduate who intends to pursue a bachelor’s degree from a recognized four-year college or institution will be awarded a JRF scholarship. In addition to the Rachel Robinson International Fellowship, JRF Scholars can apply for additional grants to seek chances to work and study abroad or to pursue post-graduate studies. It is the mission of the Jackie Robinson Foundation to provide a multi-faceted experience that not only addresses the financial requirements of minority students who wish to attend college but also guides them through the process of obtaining a higher education.
